How to start a LinkedIn newsletter today

In a previous LinkedIn post, I shared a few takeaways from starting a newsletter using Creator Mode. If you’d like to see that post about additional lessons learned, you can find it here.

In more detail, I want to share how anyone active on LinkedIn can launch a newsletter.

Who should start a newsletter?

Solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and business coaches can share their content and reach an audience regularly.

As a LinkedIn member, if you meet specific criteria, the available creator resources include the ability to publish a newsletter.

A member must have a minimum of 150 followers, and additional details of the specific criteria can be found here.

The tools provided by LinkedIn are easy to follow, and once the newsletter is set up, you can store drafts and schedule them for a future date to be published.

Consider repurposing your long-form blog articles

For anyone that already has a blog, it’s a great opportunity to repurpose your blog articles. The framework is already there, so it’s easily transferable.

There are a few recommendations for those who plan to repurpose long-form articles.

First, remember that a 2,000-word article might be too long for a LI newsletter.

I learned that articles ranging from 250 to 350 words work best for my content.

It may differ if your subject matter is better consumed with a long-form article, so it varies. Use the "view stats" to see how each article performed.

Track your metrics

Experimenting with various elements of the articles, such as subject matter, value proposition, format, and length, is critical. Tracking metrics such as the number of article views is vital to ensuring your content is effective.

I recommend changing one or two variables separately to observe and measure the outcome directly.

If you want a step-by-step video on using the tools available to launch a LI newsletter, I created a video to walk you through those steps.

I will share a link to the 10-minute video in the comments section.

I’m working on another video and article discussing important pre-launch activities.

One last piece of important advice: be sure to add your newsletter to your profile's "featured" section!
